Crystal Hall

Abstract

This paper has been circulated to registered participants of the Wellesley College "State of the Discipline" event, scheduled to take place on October 1, 2016. The paper addresses the ways that digital humanities can complement the work being in done in Italian Studies with several examples of projects. The author speculates about the ways in which questions asked during the study of Italian materials can also influence the work of digital humanists. The paper also addresses the ways that the work at the intersection of these two fields is helped or hindered by characteristics of Italian Studies classes, programs, and professional development.
